Established in 2021, the Ronald Plassman Gold Standard Award is presented annually each fall to deserving athletes, coaches, and program supporters who demonstrate gold standard values lived out by the actions and support of Ron Plassman (1940-2022). These include excellence on the field of play, sportsmanship, leadership, and championing the sport of goalball. USA Goalball Teams Medal at Americas Championships

The USA Men’s and Women’s Goalball Teams both came away with medals around their necks at the conclusion of the IBSA Goalball Americas Championships that took place Feb. 18-22 in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The U.S. men’s team won the silver medal, while the U.S. women’s team came away with the bronze. Most importantly, the men’s team achieved qualification for this summer’s IBSA Goalball World Championships and will join the women’s team which had pre-qualified by virtue of their silver medal at the Tokyo Paralympic Games. Dear USABA Supporter, Having been born with the eye condition nystagmus and later diagnosed with cone-rod dystrophy in middle school, the power of sport had an immense impact on my life. Chaz Davis, Alison Lynch Capture Marathon National Titles

The 12th United States Association of Blind Athletes Marathon National Championships presented by Allworth Financial took place on Sunday, December 5, in Sacramento, Calif., in conjunction with the California International Marathon. The race featured 41 runners who are blind and visually impaired, along with 64 guide runners helping them navigate the course either for the full 26.2-mile distance or on relay teams.
