Janet Rowley-Cebula is a three-time Paralympian and a seven-time medalist in field events. Her career began when a Perkins School for the Blind coach asked if she would like to try out for track and field. She competed in the high jump and discus at Boston University and was one of USABA’s earliest athletes. At her first Paralympic Games in 1980, Rowley-Cebula won gold in discus, high jump and shot put. The following Games, in 1984, Rowley-Cebula helped her team win gold on the goalball court. She retired from competition in 1990 and currently works as a low vision therapist. Rowley-Cebula still holds national records in the B2 class for high jump, triple jump, and shot put.
